Smile Its Done!!!!!!!!! 88 Honda Hurricane 1000

Well after 18 yrs of storage and fits and starts of parts requisition and repair 3 yrs of off and on work on it, in and between rebuilding on my sons bikes, 2 Kawasaki zx-6s, Yamaha R6 as well as traveling sports for 3 boys , building a house, I have finally completed my 88 Honda Hurricane 1000 .
I had bought the bike in 91 as a rebuild-able unit with 2024 miles, Then put in my storage shed, 6 months later, wife had first child.
I was able to buy some parts right away and the bike was put on hold as fatherly duty came first, I was riding a Suzuki Gs1000 till about 1995 when the engine blew, Buy this time Son No 2 was born and mini vans, car seats, put a halt to cycling for a while. My last son was born in 98. I did keep up with some cycling as we acquired a few dirt bikes Kawasaki KDX-200, Honda xr-50 and Suzuki Ds-80 and I rode those, as well as getting the boys involved. So far my oldest son has a Yamaha R-6 and my middle son is riding a Kawasaki Ninja ZX -6 Any way, Here are some pictures and I have added a few things along the way as well as ideas from this forum.
Stainless braided steel brake lines front and rear
Race craft springs and gold valves
K and N air filter
Vance and Hines 4-1 with center stand still remaining on
Ignition advance and shifter roller bearing and spring upgrade
Ignition coil mod
Carbs re-jetted
DDM 55w High low Headlight
Removed fuel pump and went to gravity feed 3-8 line
Maint free AGM battery
Corbin Seat
Added an accessory30 amp relay and 5 place fuse box,
I also fabricated a pair of power outlets. as we are planning a couple of road trips and will need to charge phones, tablets or the occasional electric garment as well as having a battery feed that will take a smart charger,
Did many hours of panel repair, bodywork and painting motor, mods carb work
and I am pretty proud of it.
Thanks. -

Great effort !
You should indeed be proud of her.
Not sure about the soft bag attached to the luggage frame though
In my experience they move around a lot and can damage your paintwork, and I've had zips break at speed................
Enjoy - the engine is basicly new !
May you have many happy miles - I can see the smiles from here !

Second extremely tasty bike to come out of the woodwork in the last 24 hours.

Good work mate, I'm sure she will give you many happy hours of riding, and believe or not "You meet the nicest people riding a Honda".

Where-ever you stop, once people twig to how old your bike is, they just want to talk to you.

Enjoy the rides, I'm sure you'll get to talk to all kinds of interesting people (half of them are jealous, because they're stuck in a Corolla with Madge).

Nice job, I like the fact that you were able to keep the center stand. Makes waxing chains a breeze on long rides.

Man no holds barred on that one! You did it right, better late than never... I was riding bmx bikes and dreaming about the "new" mid-90's cbrs when this thing was sitting around in your shed, what a time machine.

Beautiful job man, looks brand new. The hurricane graphics on the tank wouldn't be my cup of tea but the rest is superb.
