After 3-4 years of storing parts and pieces I added a new charged battery and fired the Hurricane up. I was such a great feeling to hear the bike run. A bit of smoke but it did get a heat cycle on the engine. Its a relief to know that the engine is sound, so far anyway. Thank you all for your encouraging words.

Nice! Did you get to take it for a spin?

 

When an engine is stored for a length of time, there will always be a little smoke when you fire it up the first time - rings have to expand, valves need to settle etc, so nothing to worry about . When I store an engine I put about a teaspoon of oil in the plug holes to keep the bores from rusting.
It's great news !
Now ride it and put up some pics !
