I've used a throat mic, a push to talk button (Dont use vox) and a $80 pair of UHF radios to good effect out to 3k's range.

I have the impression that CB is the only way to do bike to bike, out of 24 bikes the other day 3 had CB's, me will make 4. It makes sence,
I did go for a brief ride with the system (1k, 6 blocks and back) and I found that my bike is really nosey, still heard the radio OK.

The BlueTooth adaptor(for CB) comes with a push-To-Talk button that velcro-starps to the handle bars.
The CB cable that came with the unit is for a Motorola CB, not my Top Quality $20 one with 2 separate plugs (speaker out & talk)

Even now, I still think that a wired system will provide best in reliability.

What CB are you using? I've heard people having problems with AutoCom and CB? I've also heard people having a hard time with setting up antennas on a bike for CB? Any advice would be interesting as I'm currently using FRS only, and might setup CB for my longer trips.

I just have a hand held.
I also brough the mounting bracket for it $35 (same place)
Havn't set it up yet, but it bolts onto the cluch master, somehow.
It's designed for a Motorola, but my cheapie fit it OK, may need to tie it down as the Motorola would clip in tight by the looks of it.
The idea of the Hand Held is it can go with you.

my mate has a Motorola or Uniden with his starcom1 and has a problem with battery life and maybe the talk is depressed all the time,
I said I would look at it for him, the guy who did the wiring, did a rough job, not to my standard anyway.

If I brought a new one, I've been told by another mate (radio nerd) to get one with the coding, so you can secure you communication.
He has a Scala Rider Motorcycle Headsets which dosn't work with a CB or support Music streaming (AD2P).
he is not a happy chappie.

When I was washing my clothes after lastnight, I found a phone number, I wonder who's it is - Crazy

I got one of these from Lidl about £17 last Thursday http://www.ucom.be/pdf/Twintalker%20...K-DE-ES-IT.pdf seem decent based on a PMR radio not on Lidl's website though http://www.lidl.co.uk/uk/home.nsf/pages/i.home

I use Midland GXT700's with throat mikes and PTT switches - range stated to be 26 miles, not true, but OK to about 10K's which is enough. Any system you use will be affected by terrain, as radio waves travel in straight lines. Biggest problem is helmet noise at speed, but Autocom and Starcom have solved that problem.

MarkR - phone the number and find out.......you never know.....

And the CB Holder - forgot the photo, but you will see it later

Fitting took 15min to the helmet

The HTC Helmet has velcro allread in ti, but the camos kit came with velcro patch to use.
The earphone slid straigh in, the lump in the photo is just a bubble of nothing, it sits flat.

I was able to hide all the cords except for where the mic cord hits the padding
