Do you put it in the crank case or the fuel. My bike was noisy as well and after setting the carbs up right and 50 miles of the Italian tune up it sounds great.

I wouldn't put the oil in the gas tank. But besides putting the Mystery oil into the crankcase, you can also run a cap-full (about an ounce) in each intake. You do this by putting a hose on one sync nipple of the intake, and the other end of the hose in a cap-full of Marvel Mystery oil. Run the engine until the engine vacuum empties the cap. Then do it for each intake individually, and the cylinder head and valves get clean.

Excuse the question but we don't have Marvels here - what is it ?
From wikipedia
"Burt Pierce was the founder of the Marvel Oil Company in 1923.
After World War I, vehicles encountered carburetor problems. As a result Mr. Pierce formulated a blend of chemicals and petroleum to clean and maintain clogged jets. It proved beneficial for engines by creating a top ring seal producing higher compression, preventing blow-by on power strokes, resulting in more power.
Mystery Oil was also found to improve gas mileage when used as a fuel additive.[citation needed]
Since the use of Ethanol in gasoline, which breaks down and gels in gas tanks, fuel injectors and carburetor jets, adding Marvels will help slow and possibly eliminate the gelling of ethanol gas in Fuel Injected and Carburetor engines; making it a very suitable winterizing solvent."

From Slick 50 and other engine oil additives - The Skeptic's Dictionary - Skepdic.com
"Stuff like Bardahl, Rislone and Marvel Mystery Oil claim they can make your engine run quieter and smoother, and reduce oil burning. These are products which contain solvents or detergents such as kerosene, naphthalene, xylene, acetone or isopropanol."

My father used to swear by the stuff for cleaning valves on older engines.

So I heard back from the seller. He's given up on his mechanic. I can either buy the bike "as is" and take my chances or walk away. He's asking $700 for the bike.
What do you all think? Is it worth the gamble?

$700 - hmmmmm - you could probably make more than that if you parted it out, provided of course the engine isn't totally trashed. At that price here, I'd be all over the thing......

I was thinking about the parts as well. If it runs it'd be a SMOKIN deal.
I may still do a compression test on all the cylinders and see what I can see.

I'm sittin on the fence right now, it's getting painful.
