I think my fuel pump is bad.. replacement options?
Its a 1987 1000f
I Just got it and it wont run, i've got all my spark in order, everything good to go, but Im pretty sure I'm missing the fuel.
I can put my plugs in, try to turn it over, turn the handle, turn it over, ect ect.. then if i take the plug back out, its still dry as day.
If I look at my fuel pump/filter, I can see fuel hanging out in the filter, but goes no where after that. I also feel no clicking if I cup my pump. Im prettyyy sure its dead. Where can i find a cheap replacement?

RE: I think my fuel pump is bad.. replacement options?
believe me, theres a fuel pump.
Theres also a relay very close to the pump thats completely corroded.. in fact, its missing a connection for a ground. I tried fixing the missing connection, but its a false hope. its too corroded. I've got pics on another site i'll upload here later (seeing as im at work now)
The relay sayd CF 322 on it though, but i googled my brains out and cant find out what thats all about.

Thanks Captain Obvious.. literally. lol.
Although, tonight i had a friend who knows his bikes come over and check it out. the fuel pump runs strong. although, he did have to jump it and bypass the relay. that relay is pretty much torn and broken to hell.
I thought it'd be a little cheaper though for sure, theres no other sites that offer one that would work?

CrotchRocket has it for a little cheaper. There's something to be said for factory parts. It's under dealer services, parts finder.

as of now, its jumped by the battery. straight positive wire is making it turn on... any chance I can just keep the relay in its current condition, and wire a switch inbetween the battery and fuel pump so i can turn it on and off? its a little cheaper alternative

Tyler the purpose of the relay is so the pump gets a full 12 volts and it's switch off when the igniton is off. It's a major safety issue, really. A shorted out fuel pump or bad capacitor *could* cause a spark, and well... gas reacts in an explosive manor around sparks. The draw on a fuel pump can be rather large as well, so there is a lot of resistance. So if you do by pass the relay make sure it's to a circuit that has at least 14 gauge wire and at least a 10 amp fuse.
