Thanks for the birthday wishes, the paint i have been using is just halfords paint, so nowt special. The finish i got on the forks was good, the wheel isnt too bad (its an old wheel with a few marks in) but it looks better than it did.
Been back out in the shed this afternoon, put the new wheel bearings and seals in (the bearing drivers i bought cheap off ebay worked a treat), fitted a new pair of wavy discs and put the wheel back in, will try and put the callipers back on tomorrow and apart from a bit of tidying up at the front that ends done .
Before i put the wheel back in i gave the speedo drive a strip, clean and re-grease,this bit sometimes gets overlooked so i thought as its off i would .

cheers sprock
got the callipers back on and got the hurricane out of the shed for a start up,then turned her round ready to have her rear sorted
got back out in the shed last night and started on the back end, the axle was siezed in, but after a couple of hours soaking, tapping and turning she gave up the hold, i had to make up a drift out of an old 8mm bolt and a 12mm nut and wind it in to the hollow in the axle and give it a fair whack, but its out now, i have also removed the disc and sprocket ready for spraying, new disc, bearings and seals.

had a really busy weekend and didnt get out in the shed, went out last night for an hour and took the bearings out the rear wheel and sprocket carrier, glad i bought the bearing puller its made me money back already, the rear bearings were in a bit of a mess and one was knackered and the spacers are corroded.
i have got bearings and seals ready to go back in when i have painted the wheel.
next on the list is the removal of the swinging arm and shock, the bolts have been soaking for a week so next up is their removal and their tight, so the impact wrench will be out again .
just a quick question, what is the easiest way to get into the top shock mount, i have had a quick look round and access is easy one side but not the expansion tank side any advice before i start stripping it out to gain access. thanks for any help

Not sure if I remember correctly from when I changed mine, but I think there is a captive nut so you only need access from the one side. Makes the job a hell of a lot easier.

Maybe Sprock or one of the guys with better memories than mine can confirm this for you??

Great work though Paul. I'm waiting for the weather to warm up, so I can get out in the garage and start my baby up. Every time I think the weather is improving, along comes a load more snow

Yeah pull out the rear wheel and pull any plastics on the left side - unbolt the
lower dog leg bolts and it all accessed like you said from the left side easy enough.

Any of the bushings need replacing ?

And Hawk - St Paddy's is a coming - so my memory will be impacted severely this
weekend I expect

thanks for the help, found out yesterday when i went back out to strip the back end out.
had a couple of hours spare last night so i managed to get the back end stripped, had one bolt the bottom shock mounting that played up, someone had chewed the nut up, it took a while but i have some small ring spanners (see pic) they do have a name but i cant remember it,but it done the job, there is a couple of pics of the rear end and the nut in question,
now the bushings do have a little bit of play, not in the relay arm but between the bolt and the bush, so i will give them a better inspection and decide what to do,if there not too dear i may just replace them, where`s the best place to get them, i think i can get them from bikebandit, but if anyone knows another source please let me know

had to work last weekend so i have had to get out to the hurricane in the evenings, i have been trying to get the swinger relay arm stripped, clean and work out if i needed any more bearings, i already have a swinger rebuild kit.
the bottom shock mount bush on the arm is knackered so i thought i will take that out and replace it, 2 hours and a hacksaw later it gave up the other bearings/bushes are ok but the nuts and bolts will need replacing.
everything has been degreased and i have managed to take the bearings out of the swinger, the needle roller is a pain to get out ,
my bearing extractors do not cover that size either too big or small so i used the smaller one and put a nut inside the collet so it would open further other than that the swinger was not too bad.

She's looking good Paul! Your 'Old Girl' is going to put us all to shame!

As for the best place for parts = the cheapest at the best quality.

What price are you looking at and we'll go shopping for ya! (just like the girls, shopping for shoes )
