Can't wait to see the final result, it's certainly been a labour of love!

I take my hat off to you!

I'll keep my fingers crossed for the weather for both of us!

its certainly has been a labour at times, but for a 25 year old bike its all gone quite well, she is never going to be a show stopper, but at least i know everything is working as it should be,some of the pannels havent met up properley and sourcing new pannels wasnt in my budget, but im happy with how she looks and have enjoyed rebuilding her.
I have worked out the cost of all the work and painting and its around £1300 and taken around 120 hours to do (over 6 months).
Has it been worth it, to right it has i will never make my money back, but that isnt the point of me rebuilding a bike. i do it because i enjoy it and i rekon the cane will be in my shed for a long time

£1300 isn't too bad Paul. I've spent a fortune on mine, probably close to what you've spent, but I've not done any paintwork.

Some stuff needed to be done and some I just wanted to do, or I couldn't resist a bargain (like the seat). But you get attached to these old ladies and they need to be treated with kindness occasionally

I'm sure you've gained a lot of satisfaction from rebuilding your old girl and she truly is yours now. You've left your mark on her and over the miles you enjoy together, she'll leave her mark on you.

I wish you both many happy miles together, just don't make the Missus toooo jealous!!

However

the mrs is a diamond when it comes to me and bikes, and she knows what a misserable old sod i would be without one, like you say £1300 isnt too bad, i have spent more on a rebuild, i am set to have her back on the road this weekend, so i will post up all the pictures when she`s done

i have had a fair few newish bikes but their not the same as the older stuff, for me its the ridding and tinkering with an older bike as opposed to just riding some thing newer and this gets me out in the shed more

When I looked at the first photo I was thinking, why would someone take a bike it that good of condition and bastardize it? There are some members in this forum that would love to have a bike in that condition. Why would someone go and ruin it?

I scrolled down with not much hopes of seeing something other than a bike where I would be posting, "Well, beauty is in the eye of the beholder."

But WOW! You have taken a bike that was somewhat retro looking to something that is what I would describe as, current retro bike style.

I could ride that bike and feel proud. Great job. Two thumbs up and two big toes too.
