I believe that was the 1981 CBX, when sales were flagging they re-packaged it with bags and a fairing.

The Concours came out in the early 80's as well, I believe.

I don't think the FJ was marketed as a sport tourer, though.

Hi all

If i reember correctly the concour came out in 1986. The fj was launched as a sportbike but a year after ( after the ninja and gsxr1000came out) was relabled a sport tourer at about the same time as the hurricane became a sport tourer. Also the fj was a bit redesigned , the beefed up the motor to 1200cc and replaced the 16 inches wheel ( front) with a 17 incher give it more stability.

Correct me if My memory is failing me...

My son bought an '87 CBR1000F along about 1991. When he went to basic training he left it with me and asked if I would ride it enough to keep the battery charged and the gas fresh. It was love at first ride. No other bike has felt as good to me as the CBR1kF. Everyonce in a while I think about trading, or buying something else, but nothing else appeals to me as much a my CBR. I had the chance to get a low mileage, pristine CRB1100 this fall, and decided tokeep the present bike. It's smooth, rides like it's on rails, powerful enough that triple digits are no problem even when loaded (not that I, a crusty old fart, would ever ride that fast), and reliable. It's a snap to adjust the valves when needed, unlike the shim-under-buckets on my younger son's VFR, and regular maintainence is just as easy. I'd rate it a 9.8 on a scale of 1 - 10, just because the cam chain tensioner and cam chain tend to be a problem.

dont get me wrong im not a wheelies freck but i do enjoy the buzz of the front wheel just letting you know you've got a few horse's there to control even though i agree the bike is pretty damn fast and a good topend

I have a 95' 1000F, and after having had ridden or owned dozens of bikes over the years, this is the one maching that still puts a smile on my face on those day-long runs. What a sweet bike. I'm now looking for a newer 1000F, a 99' 2000'. If anyone can help me locate a nice one in North America, I would be most appreciative.

I don´t think you´re able to get a -99 or -00 in USA, I think they stopped importing in -96 or -97 when the Blackbird came. Honda still sells the Blackbird in ex. Sweden, while not in USA. Correct me if I´m wrong.

There are somany models of bikes out there. I do love Hurricane, it rides perfect for me...infact some guy offered me $3,500 bucks for it cash the other day...he bought a harley and thought it was the worst peice he has ever spent money on...too loud his main complant was at....im nto srue if it was a good idea no t osell it but i love the bike it runs smooth no major problems, expcet some scratches..and needs an oil change...i dont think i evn can find abetter bike, i have a Red Rider booklet from Honda shop and it was liek a 6 month old issue it was comapring the CBR 1000F (1987) and the newst model at the time CBR 1000R(2007) basicly it was saying that even the older bike still has that old lion look but dont let the loks decieve you its still a man eater..
i was going to try to find the article online and post it.

I agree its one of the best bikes ever made in my opinion. Classic looks, powerful and comfortable. What more could you ask for?

I'd be very interested in the article, if you can find it.
