Default How much oil do you use between changes?

Me? I used 2 1/2 quarts.

Granted, I did about 2k miles worth of highway riding between changes.

I used nil, it was still on the full mark on the dipstick when the last service was done. Much better now with the top end rebuild, I was using about 1/2 litre of oil to every tank of juice before that!

It depends how I ride mine. On a recent trip to Phillip Island with my son and a heap of luggage I used about 250ml over 1500 km. I was riding her hard though and she was loaded.

I've got about 6,600 miles on the oil and it has not used one drop. It actually looks and feels good but it's time for it to go. Today's plan is to change it and the other bikes for winter. I usually change it at 3,000 miles but have been doing long trips with it. I guess I am lucky with it but, I don't ring it out during shifts and I do change the oil more often with good oil. I think that riders who cheap out and don't buy good Motorcycle oil, to save pennies, are the ones to pay in the long run. Oil not designed for a motorcycle breaks down and you may as well just put water in the crank.

The 1990 - tiny bit more than 1/2 of a quart per 3 k miles

The 1993 - maybe 1/5 pint every 3 k miles

Bikes an 87 and over 90K. I haven't measured the oil it uses but very little probably less than 500ml in 3K.

Hi,

I was using about 250ml to 1000 miles but after the top end rebuild and upgrade I am using no oil between changes.

Na-da! Normal change interval is 3000mi. On the ride NORD with Sprock and TimBuc I clocked 4800mi so the change was at 5k, still nothing measureable consumed. Use Mobil One 15-50, with extended service for the long ride.
