Default Honda drops Hurricane Name

Has anyone heard that Honda quit calling the 600 & 1000 because Insurance Companies wouldn't insure them?

Sounds funny to me, interested in the Topic however Kawasaki managed to keep the Ninjaâ„¢

I hadn't heard that.

Around here insurance companies don't care what its called. They have a list of red-listed and black-listed bikes.

Some insurance companies will NOT insure GSXR's, CBR's or ZXR's. Period. Regardless of whether they're called Ninjas or Hurricanes or Roadbunnies.

You want to talk killing power? Body count? Give me a handful of revenge-crazed Ninja warriors over a category 3 hurricane any day.

I've hard something similar that bikes named after disasters, ie Hurricane's , Typhoon's, Tornados, relate to death in large numbers so Honda and a few other car manafacturers dropped the names. Cant feel the same for a VW Rabbit can you? Unless its a killer rabbit!

Only the first generation of CBR's were called urrican,s and only in north America, i don,t know but is more of a marketing thing i belive, just look at car manufacturers , barracuda, firebird , satellite corvette, it always worked until the german started making high ends cars and giving them names like sl500, audi 3 bmw 3etc,.. mazdahas gone that way too.

for me i prefer cbr, fj etc...

Funny that thye used hurricane as a storm because , ther was a second world war plane called huricanne, the next gt they made they called it super blackbird...
