Yeah the 'Hurricane' name seems to be more common in the US , though over here there was a 750 'Hurricane', not many of 'em about though . Maybe that's why the name didn't stick over here?
I think 'Super Sport' sounds a bit cooler , but I guess it's what your used to. Though I usually just say CBR 1000f , anyone that is interested will know exactly what bike I'm talking about and anyone else will come back with the annoying bo11ocks thats in the 'Anoying Questions' thread in the 'off topic' section.

Like you Rob , I have only ever known them out of side of magazines as Super Sports..
In here I think obviously the popular name for them is Hurricane...
I noticed on Pete's ride , no Hurricane sticker seems to be visible or Super Sport...??
Are they only called CBR 1000F in some places without either tag name

Nah , the 'Super Sport' name applies here in the UK , but I think it's a bit of a mouthfull. I think CBR 1000 sounds good , but that could also be a 'Fireblade' , so I add the 'F' to distinguish between the two , don't want peep's to think I'm a 'wannabee' Blade rider.

No "supersport" or "hurricane " stickers on the Californication bikes
It's just a CBR1000F.
I've heard them called "jelly moulds" in the UK, also "ballistic sofas"
I couldn't really give a rat's what it's called, point is, it GOES LIKE HELL
That's what does it for me...........

I have not head it for quite a while.
I think it started years and years ago when having full fairings was quite new for road rides... and these old girls popped onto the scene with quite large fairings ...

Back then giviig a name like Huricanne was a counterattack to the name Ninja, remember Kawasaki had a big success with the Ninja and everyone new the Ninja, sportbikes were getting identified to the Ninja, I guess it was a try on the part of Honda to get a name easliy identifiable, a proof of that is where you see the ninja hiding itseelf in the basement from a storm.
It said even the Ninja must hide from the Hurricanne, it was all marketing hype as honda and kawasaki were in a war oof te quickest and fastest motorcycles.
