Once again many thanks. I had planned to undertake some much needed repairs over winter but none quite this big. The tree although not that big didn't move. It also appears to have written the bike off. I don't have enough use of my hands to start pulling things apart but the frame seems to have a big dent in the down tube just behind the radiator. In the next week or so I'll have a better look.
I used to be a tree lopper so maybe it's payback?? Still damn lucky to be alive but can't wait to throw my leg over again & have a bit of fun.

OUCH!

Glad you're OK

I have this theory that trees are out to kill us all.....

Think about it - when is the last time you read in the papers that a tree fell over and DIDN'T kill anyone??????

maybe I need to get more sleep.

Geez Blue !
Apologies for the poetry.....................
Didn't realise you'd hit one THAT big THAT hard !!!
It's a true testament to the bike (and yourself)that you could ride her home..........
hope she's repairable, and you are one lucky man..............

Sorry to hear about your stack. It does sound like a revenge attack to me! The main thing is that you're ok (relatively), but terrible if your bike's written off. Any chance they'll let you buy it back?
I once had my right wrist set in plaster so I could still ride. I had to wiggle the twistgrip around with my fingertips to get full throttle, but the bike was my only way to visit a girl so I had to do something (I was 17)...I did no good anyway and crashed again with my arm still in the cast! Did I learn? hmmm.
Good luck, Dave.

It's amazing how fast trees can move, and how willing they are to be hit by motorcycles. From many years of experience riding in the woods, I can tell you that they do not have roots -they have legs.
Bikes are replaceable, I am glad to hear you are on the mend.
Take Care, and get well soon.

Sorry to hear your bad news Bluebeard , but looks like you had a lucky escape ,could have been a lot worse mate! Trees are hard , especially down at the base , looks like you hit pretty low down.

Hope you get well very soon , keep us updated!
