Default High speed tree hugging!!

Sorry to say it but it's not a good idea to hug trees at high speed. It tends to damage the tree. It also breaks bikes & bodies. This means no riding for me at least until the cast is removed from my arm.
To cut a long story short I overtook an idiot who was running off the road throwing stones up into my face on a road I'm not familiar with. I chose the wrong place to go past & collected a tree @ 100+ km/h. I still managed to ride home with a broken wrist, plenty skin off & no clutch lever. Then drove to the doctor. It proves to me just how important quality riding gear is. Its what saved a lot of injury.
The bike looks like just superficial damage only but once I can use my bad hand I'll have a better look.

De Bluebeard he done hit a tree
But he's OK-it seems to me
That passing through a hail of stones
Will surely give you broken bones !

Heal up soon Mate, shows you how tough old Aussies can be.
Good on yer !

Thanks for the replies. Shadow I'll print the poem off & frame it me thinks. I haven't been back to the site yet but I do remember no steering & no brakes. There were also no skid marks. From this I can only conclude that there was no contact with the road because I was hard on the brakes. I do remember looking back along the road & it appeared to drop slightly into the corner. I have worked out the mechanics of the impact but still working out exactly why. Still I'm very lucky to be alive at all.
As Monty Python said " Always look on the bright side of life" except I forgot to buy a lotto ticket!
Tough Aussies???? I think I was too stupid to know when to quit & yes our roads are not for the faint hearted but they are a lot of fun.

Sorry to hear that you hugged a tree.
I know some people who think hugging a tree can give them some powers, but i think they do it a little different way and with somewhere slower speed

Anyway fast healing and hope you and the cane will be riding again soon.

Hey Carl
Riding in Australia is best in winter- too hot in summer.

So Blue's da man - he hugged a tree
And rode away - how can that be ?
Unless the tree was but a twig
And wasn't really all that big

He's still da man - he walked away
And lives to ride another day
But showers of stones- it's a disgrace
I'd grab dat guy and punch his face...........

His bike it hardly hit da ground
A little scratch or two he found
The clutch is gone - that's no surprise
But riding home - that's hardly wise.......

Unless of course you have no choice
And none can hear you make a noise
Or help you up when you fall down
And lift you both back into town..................

Good on yer mate ! More to follow..........
