help with carb rebuild
my buddies dad has an 87 Hurricane. It sat for awhile and apparently all the gas turned green and went bad. My buddy took the carb off, opened up the bowls, drained and cleaned. He got it running but said it was still rough. I went there today and got it running and there was gas pouring out of the bottom of the carbs, from all the gaskets and maybe from the T outlets there. From what I remember I think these T outlets are the float overflow outlets? No hose supposed to be connected?
So, I'm gonna rebuild the carbs. I havent rebuilt a carb in quite awhile, but have no doubt that I will be able to get these done. However, I cant find any specs on the carbs yet for setting them up after a rebuild. Also, the carbs I've done in the past have a site glass for setting the floats. How do you set them on these carbs? Generally I wouldnt touch them and assume they are in the right spot, but since I'm following someone else's questionable work, I want to make sure they are still ok.
Anything else I should know ahead of time?
Thanks

If the carbs have been sitting so long I'd go with an ultrasonic clean.
You are lucky. You have the early model carbs with metal floats so you can do a float adjustment.
You can also replace your float needle and seat. This is something I highly reccomend you do as its little cost.
Only other things I'd check with such on old carb is the rubber diaphrams are all ok, the emulsion tubes arent oval and the main needle isn't worn.
