Default Heated vest

I was thinking of buying a heated vest - ref recent post 'winter has arrived in the UK' and advancing years. Then I saw the prices.[] So I looked on eBay and found someone selling a do-it-yourself kit, much cheaper. I bought one; I spent one evening threading the heating element into the removable liner of my jacket, and another two evenings wiring the socket into the bike. Should have done this years ago! It works really well. What is good is that I now feel nice and warm however cold it is, but not uncomfortably so. The only time you can actually feel heat is if you cause the clothing to press against yourself, for example by bending your arms so your sleeves are tighter. So now I don't wear a rucksack on my back in case it gets too hot, instead I bungie it to the seat.

Like I said, I should have done this years ago. My rides to meetings in Swindon and Cheltenham will now be much more comfortable.

I just wonder what effect this might have on my reg/rec and/or battery. Apparently it's like riding with an extra high beam on.

And no, I'm not the supplier of the kit, or even a friend of a friend of a friend. Just passing on my findings and making a recommendation.

Safe riding everyone.

Nice idea H, will have to look into that for you later. Hows the bike running now, apart from being toasty I mean?

collector,

Bike's running OK, thanks. Regular 160 or 250 mile round trips it takes in its stride but still can't get more than 42mpg. BT0202s still got life in 'em but really affected by white lines now - sometimes takes me unawares. Prob try Pirelli Stradas next, seem to have good reviews. I've never had anything other than Bridgestones in all my riding years!

On friday got a price for new Z6s, front and rear. £200. all in but it means that for them both I have to go up one size. Still have to find out more info, but would imagine that by the middle of next month will have made the purchase, and new boot will be on. Take care on the white lines and will let you know what we went for.
