Anyone tried bird pipes on a CBR? Looking at pics of headers they look different to each other. Got a few stock mufflers and none are fantastic. Rusted out and damaged. Would prefer to keep stock covers on them.

Default Blackbird Mufflers on CBR1000F

They look real good but I would prefer not to have the extra weight and go with a 4 into 1

Thanks Gary. I like the Bird pipes because they are plentiful and cheap. Not chasing any extra performance- bike goes well enough as it is to fry my licence.
Rego plate on pictured bike is still current in Western Australia- I wonder if the bike is anyone on here???

The problem with 4-1 is the CV carbs. Changing anything from the restrictive intake to reducing back pressure in the exhaust system causes changes in how the bike runs. You can pick up a few more ponies with the 4-1 but you need to run with an open throttle. Down below in revs it will get finicky and jumpy.

I have a 4 into 1 but have no interest in using it. Like the stock pipes but they are worn out. Bird pipes seem to be plentiful and cheap. 😊

Yes the 4 into 1 pipe on my GPZ900R makes it hard to get running right.

Bought a set of Blackbird pipes. They certainly are not bolt on. Cbr pipe is mild steel and Bird is stainless so I assume they cannot be welded together. Will work something out. 😊 Pity owner of CBR pictured above isn't here to advise how they did it. Maybe it is a full Bird system????

I hear you CBR1000KF parts are now getting rare, body parts were never reproduced by anyone, I see some of these bikes getting as rare as the Kawi KZ1000MK2. It is a real sleeper model. Having had mine for over twelve years now I still can't find anything to replace it with.
