Hard to start, slow starter
Hi M8's
A friend has a -89 Hurricane, which turns very slowly on the starter even though the battery and starter have been replaced and the wiring including grounding should be OK as well. It appears something is causing a heavy mechanical resistance. There is no spark when three plugs are in but when all are removed. This indicates the starter movement is hindered and the high turn-around resistance and current draw kills the battery power.
I remember from when I had a 1000F a couple of years ago that a so called starter clutch that sometimes went south can cause start-up problems.
Anyone have insight in what the root of the problem is?
BTW, I've had a couple of bikes since the Hurricane -92 and is now back where I started with a Gixxer 1000. It is undergoing a turbo conversion for safe walkaways.
Thanks a lot in advance !
