Default Givi side cases with Vance & Hines pipe

Hi,

I finally found the rack to install a couple of givi side cases on my 90 cbr1000f. However, the bike came with the Vance & Hines pipe, which goes up in angle instead of horizontal and low as the stock exhaust. I haven't had the time to install the rack, but just by looking at the bike it seems to me there is not enough space for the side case. Has anyone had this issue? if so, how did you solve it?

Thanks,
Javier.

You won't know until it's on as it's close anyhow - all you need is an inch and a half
clearance . The side cases don't hang as low as you think - they ride pretty high up.
Put it on and "cold fit".......

If you do find it too high (pipe) for some weird reason - have the link pipe bent or add a
small custom link bracket where the can attaches to the rear peg to drop it an
inch or two

Thanks Sprock, that is kind of what I thought. I am waiting to have a bit of time to install everything. I will report once is done.

Have fun fitting the rack - there's a few things they don't tell ya about a few of those
special slide washers to be used at the tail end - time and patience you'll prevail

I made an extra set of stiffening brackets that go from the rear grab rail bolts out to
the side racks - copied from a similar setup by TimBucTwo, only mine are steel,
his were alum - they help a bit.

^ So even with those glossy eyed stares, you have been paying attention.

If the pipe interferes, you may be able to rotate the pipe like Sprock suggested and make an extension to mount the pipe lower. The V&H pipe is a performance pipe and they had max (road) clearance in mind.

I'd recommend send the Givis to me and not cover up those beautiful V&H's

Ok so the cases are installed are there is plenty of room for them and the V&H pipe. If you want to see pics please go to https://picasaweb.google.com/jajgarc...CIvR147Ng9qLCQ
