Gas Mileage
I wondered what sort of gas mileage you guys get...
with average A road driving (not motorway) I get pretty much bang on 150 miles before I hit reserve. That includes a bit of poodling along and a bit of opening it up....seems quite low to me. I'm going to put a new air filter and plugs in this weekend, maybe that will help a bit. If the weather is fine I may even try a carb balance - i've got a morgan carb tune but never used it on this bike.
Holy crap - I just worked out that equates to 31 miles per Imp Gallon !

RE: Gas Mileage
I've been calculating my mpg on most tanks since I got my bike. At the lowest I get 31-33mpg (moderate driving with some opening up when no cops are around). I went for a nice drive to Mt. Rainier and got 46mpg, gentle cruising with a few teenage moments...
I am guessing that when I add a throttle lock and go for a hwy cruise, hold it at 75...i bet I get 50.
Better than the F150 at 12mpg!

RE: Gas Mileage
WOW, I couldn't imagine only getting 31 mpg on my 91. I get 46-49 on all tanks. I get to about 200 and then I switch to reserve. This is a combo of 70mph highway and city driving. I'm hoping when I get a checkup, the carbs synched, and the valves adjusted that I'll pick up a couple more mpg's.

RE: Gas Mileage
My '89 gets 40-45mpg. I get around 160 miles then I switch it to reserve. If you want to figur out your exact mpg her's the math... Take your miles divide it by the gallons of gas you put in to fill it up and you'll have the exact mpg's. Example... My chevy silverado. I fill up with gas (until the pump stops pumping gas.). I drive until I need gas. I have 360 mile on the odometer. When I get gas I fill it up again until the pump stops. The pump stops at 23 gallons of gas. Now the math... 360miles(divide by) 23gallons of gas=15.65 Acuratley telling me that my silverado got 15.65 mpg's on that tank of gas. Check it a couple of times and find an average. You can use this formula on short distance trips also. Fill up, drive to where-ever and fill up again. Same math just less miles and less gas, but the same average outcome of mpg's. I hope this will be helpful. Just another bit of useless knowledge I know.LOL!

RE: Gas Mileage
Well, Trips gets the "Golden Guzzler" award - he's a clear winner. Prize? Oh yes, half a pint of warm lager.
I'd also mention that 1 Imp Gallon = 1.2 US Gallon approx.
It appears that with the odd exception these are thirsty bikes. I've got to do something about my gas mileage, I cannot live with 31mpg.

RE: Gas Mileage
I'm just up the road from you in Norfolk, and with all the country roads and bypasses I seem to be getting about 200 miles to the tank before I'm looking at reserve. Had a suzuki carb ballancer put on last week and what a difference that makes. Think that I will be doing that at every service. Hope that you get sorted this weekend.
