Think of it like this. Have you ever been on a bicycle with 20+ speeds? well, what happens when you change the front gears up to the "bigger" sprocket......Its, probably best to go the R1000 route, thats what I'm going to try anyways. I just hope I dont change the sprockets and then have to replace the chain as well for a longer chain.

PS Does anyone else get that sponser ad from Bikerplanet on the right side of the web-page? That chic is hot! It looks like she's got her pants ready to fall right off!

I just changed mine last week. I had stock and went with -1 in the front. Its not a huge difference, i do a lot of freeway and my rpm's were only up about 1000 but its enough that its noticeable and your font end feels justa little lighter.

15/46 just installed and have no ideal as to its road worthiness will tell you stocked chain is just barely long enough. And this is a temporary set up. Myself, and R1000 had a late-night discussion on this subject. Only planning to run this for about two months or so after getting back on my feet. I ride with a mixed group, on a regular basis a R1, GSXR 1000 & 750 , ZX10 and a Hayabusa. So, as you can see traveling in this crowd. I am usually the last bike off the line don't really give a damn about the top end issue would really like to pull these guys out the whole will drop back to a 16/44 whether the setup achieves my goal are not.

My speedo is off i can tell but im not sure by how much, it hasnt been nice enough for me to put my GPS on and see by how much. I love the freeway so i didnt want to have hugh rpms going down the freeway but i did want to be able to pop a wheelie a little easier. If you want to jump off the line and dont care about too much else, i might go with a -1 +2. That seems to be a normal jump that a lot of people have but im fine for me just crusing around town. I only have other 600's i ride and have to compete with. By the way, i did the change on a 98 f3 600.

so on a stock 1988 honda hurricane "1000F" what is the stock sproket teeth on the front and on the rear? i want to be able to pick up the heavy beauty for an occassional whillie but yet run around town crusin' not so much highway use but occasionally i might. and do i understand correct that the front sproket go down one tooth and go up it the rear by two, that should be about what i want correct? will replace chain if i have to, its a lil streched now. i just got the bike so am starting to do some maint on her as well as get what i want as well. thanks for the fast replys guys i really appreachiate it Lil50

17/42R if memory serves.......although why you would want to wheelie a 550 Lb bike is beyond me, all it does is wreck the chain, sprockets and gearbox....and front forks.......still, each to his own...
I gave mine a good bit of right hand off the line recently against a Ducati 916, and it didn't lift its head much, just left a black stripe 30-odd paces long on the road, which was very satisfactory...
also left the Ducati in the dust which felt even better.......and that was with 17/42 sprocketing.
Your speedo will be out by a good bit, around 6 % for each front tooth you drop.
Go up 2 on the rear and you'll be 4.7% or so out, so if you do a 15/43, you'll be around 16% out on the speedo, so at indicated 100 you'll be doing 84 (or so, maths was never my strong point)

So, there are Africans in Canada too - I wonder which one's got your stereo, Gill ? Sorry to hear about that......
Hey Shadow1, you want to elaborate on your comment. It seems to have a bit of a racial tone that I really don't appreciate. If I'm misreading, then I apologize.
