Default front fairing

Hello there,
I just purchased an 88 1000F with front road rash, and am weighing the options
on what to do to the fairing, since all the inside pieces are gone and one windscreen
support is broken off just above mirror.
I've seen the gallery yas001 had done on the fairing, and very impressed.
I was wondering ifanyone had any pics of the instrument side, as to see what I can
make or need to replace.

I think you should try and keep it as origenal as posible!! Changing the fairings too much will spoil the caractiristics of this bike!

simtech,

I used "Bumper Repair Kit" that you can buy from any kind of discount or auto part sotres. I tried in several way to fix the plactic parts, but this stuff is not realy working for filling large area. I recently dropped my CBR on left side while I parked it on the downhill driveway. The narrow part behind the mirror came apart again. This time I will try plastic welding. I found the web page that is showing how to weld ABS plastice by using a soldering iron and a torch. I will report back!!
Here is the posting about my cowling project. https://cbrforum.com/m_213122/tm.htm

I've had very good success fixing minor damage - cracks, splits, small gouges and a small hole - in my plastic from a parked "tip over" when the side stand wasn't quite all the way down using a product called High Strength Plastic Welder - made by Devcon. Part # 22046. I got it at Wally-World. Seems to be working well - strong bond, and with a little fiberglass cloth. made a strong joint and fill. Sands well, feathers into the ABS great and was no problem to work with. Only downside - this stuff sets up FAST! After mixing, you have 2-3 minutes max to work with it - so have your repair planned out, and work with small areas as best you can. Sanding, priming, and rattle-can paint and you have to REALLY look for the repair - and that is mainly due to the less than perfect color match. I'm now working on a set of damaged side panels I picked up and it is again working well.

Your mileage may vary.

Try PC-7 epoxy paste for filling larger holes and cracks. Stays in place and doesn't run or drip. Very sandable and paintable. Bought it at local True Value hardware store. I repaired holes as large as three inches with no problems. There website is pcepoxy.com
