Default Fork stabilizer

Anyone tried the fork stabilizer from www.superbrace.com? I've ordered another more or less unnecessary item to the bike just to see if it makes any difference. I believe it is a must on very heavy bikes like Honda GW but have also read reports from group buys for the bird that it improves the handling noticeable when driving on bad road surfaces. The CBR 1000 F is kind of soft in the fork due to the 41 mm dimension and the weight of the bike. Just wanted to hint about this possibility and is also interested to hear if anyone has tried this.

FWIW, I called Superbrace two years ago to inquire if they had a brace in stock that fit the CBR1000F. They said that due to the lack of sales they no longer produced a brace for that model and they did not have knowledge of another model that may fit the CBR1000F.

They do make a good difference, especially on bumbier roads or the track. I've never tried it on the CBR yet, but it has worked on my old bike.

I guess it is very easy to fabricate a clamp for the CBR 1000 F if needed. The first thing would be to use good fork springs though.

The clamp is on. I had to grind it a few tenths of a millimeter to get rid of some stiction so the fork moves as freely as w/o clamp.

The difference maybeis more obvious when you ride onthe track ?

Yes it will be interesting to find out if it improves the bike or if thisis an(other) unnecessary item on the Bird [&:]The general impression from people that uses it is that the clamp improves the riding on bad roads; the fork moves more freely. If one presses the lower fork legs togetherby hand the increased friction is quite noticeable. And the hand force is probablyvery light compared to the load on the fork on uneven surfaces.

Have you seen any stabilizers to cbr1000f ?
Maybe they make a bigger difference to the old cbr1000f....if they have less diameter on the forks thanfor example other/newer bikes with larger diameter ?

I haven’t seen any clamp in production for the CBR 1000 F. I agree in that it would make more sense on the CBR 1000 F that has a weaker fork. The difference between a solid bike and a bike that flexes is huge, that isthe reason I've done a few mods on the Bird trying to make it run like a modern bike both chassi and engine wise. I think I’m almost there now but the unneccesary weight of the bike will always be there.

If you now some machinist, I think he could make a clamp that fits the 1KF quite easily. Just measure the diameter on the fork legs and the distance between them. The clamp should be made adjustable so it can be fitted without causing any stiction. You could also try to contact these guys http://www.spec2.com/clips.html#hon

The bike was tested with the added fork clamp today. I've been traveling in work etc. so it is some time since I rode the bike. Today it is some snow on side of roads but the sun shines and the temperature is +8 Deg C. I was able to run thru a couple of high-speed corners and of course also on bad roads to test the clamp. I haven’t felt a single movement or force in the bars so the impression is that the clamp has stabilized the bike. The bike felt somewhat comfier, the front is not harsh as before. The difference in high-speed corners is definitely there, the bike keep a perfect neutral line as I only have felt on the Suzuki before. Blue1000F will know what I mean since he has been driven the GSX R.


There were also a lot of wet sections today and one have to be really soft on the throttle in curves and can not give full power on any gear without wheel spin. I've been running under wet conditions on track so I'mnot totally unfamiliar to drive in wet and still keep some pace.
