I have 87 too. The maual says between 0 and 6 psi. I put 6psi once, it was pretty hard. Now my right fork seal is bursted, and I am waiting for the parts.

See my posting. Some one gave step by step description. He is right, it takes30 mins per fork.

The fork seals will hold back a max of 30psi, but then you would have no movement in them. Before assemblywipe all parts with a clean cloth, so that no grit will sit behind the new seal.

The main reason for putting air in the forks is to allow for a more responsive suspension on winding roads and will allow you to lean the bike over with max pressure pushing the tyre onto the road. Also when breaking hard, it will prevent maxium fork travel, and keep the bike evenly ballanced. Hope this helps..............
