Default Flying Pieces of Plastic

Well took the old 1990 out for a good trashing this morning. When I was
leaving I had that worrying feeling I had forgotten to do something but was
farked if I could remember what the hell it was. I had replaced the rear
shock and rebuilt the master and slave clutch ....so pretty much had her
apart most of the winter.

Off we went ....... and man was she flying .....newer shock was just great
no more seesaw , new clutch ......fantastic .....tight and snap snap with the
gear changes .........then ............something flew by my left leg ......**** it
looked in the rear mirror ...........lump of plastic on the road

Seems I forgot to pop the two plastic rivets in to hold on the oil cooler cover LOL

............. no worries light traffic .....scarpered back pronto to get it
before some cager ran over it........ not dinged up either ....lucky me

great day though here's a pic of my "first love"

Man it's great to be back in the saddle

Nice photo, those exhaust covers look well are they 2 shades of grey/black because they bring the bottom half of the bike into the colour scheme.
Its always nice to be back on the bike glad it was only a plastic cover that came loose.

Nice pic Sprock. At least it was only a bit of plastic too. I was following a mate at 140mph once when one of his rear pegs fell off...Quite exciting really.

I bet it's real pretty there in Autumn Sprock.

Glad you found it...I didn't trust those little fasteners so I put some double sided tape where the piece matches up to the faring.

Thanks yeah well the black and red 93 is up on the lift now getting a new chain
and sprockets , oil change, and trying to figure out where a coolant leak is coming
from ......beginning to look like the rad is leaking but only does it cold not hot
so it could be the little orings on the side pipe coolant fittings too

Dude... I have the exact same problem right now. I just haven't f'd with it quite yet. I have the left plastic off, but I need to tear a little farther in.
Small puddle under the bike only when cold. It's dripping from somewhere around the water pump gasket area, then into the lower fairing. It could be leaking anywhere above the pump, though, and migrating down.
Maybe I'll find it this weekend.

Oh, and your silver bike looks pretty good!
(for a silver '90) LOL....

Default leak

Well Dylan, I tightened down the waterpump housing a tiny bit more
then tightened the lower clamp on the hose from the rad down to the
pump

All fine now , I suspect it was that lower hose clamp dripping when she
was cool ......just like yours
