Default Fast flasher

Ok ... got a small problem and could do with talking this one thru with you guys....

My indicators have always flashed at about twice the normal rate ever since I got my bike. Trouble is, the MOT test is due and this problem now needs to be addressed. The rear indicators are stock, but the front indicators are from some other bike (type unknown). The fronts are mounted directly onto the fairing via a screw/bolt. I can't see any external earthing for the front indicators. Is the earthing the problem? Would this cause them to flash at double speed? ...... If so, is the anser to simply run an earth wire from the indicator to the frame? ...... Gotta sort it this week, so I was just thinking out loud before I get into the mancave and start twirling spanners n stuff!

Any thoughts?

Piccy... so you can see the indicators in question .... (ignore Mr Ugly holding the bike up for the shot!)

PS: ... Anyone got an original R/H mirror assy in the UK that I could purchase for a not unreasonable sum?

I'd tell that dodgy geezer to get the **** off my bike

I think if the indicators aren't earthed they wont work, it's maybe a resistance problem, or rather a lack of it. It may be the indicators/bulb or the flasher relay. But I'm no expert when it comes to 'lectrics, it's a black art to me.

Hope you manage to track it down mate.

Haha! Cheers Hawk ... Yep! ... 'lectrics is a dark art matey! ... The indicator problem is like what you get when a bulb is blown??? Although all the bulbs work??? It's got me scratching my head a bit .... hopefully, someone with far more knowledge than me will be along soon! .....

That's why I think it's a resistance problem, if a bulb blows you've got less resistance in the circuit?

Just put a solid state flasher module in instead of the relay.

It flashes at the same rate regardless of what resistance is there so you can use normal bulbs or led replacements or a mix of the two.

Best £20 you will spend

Fast Flasher?

Totally disappointed in this thread, was expecting a wee MPEG at the very least.
