Fairing fasteners
Hi there guys ,
As I'm repairing the fixing points on my fairings I was also thinking of changing the fasteners for stainless steel ones . Unfortunately I have no idea what type of thread the originals are . I've seen sets for sale on e-bay but don't know if they will fit my bike . Have any of you guys bought replacement fasteners and can you recommend any that are for sale on e-bay or elsewhere ??
Thanks

RE: Fairing fasteners
Nar ... I have not played with mine as yet so the ones on Ebay I know nothing about ..sorry..
I will be interested to see how they go though if you get them because a couple of mine are close to their used by date too...
On a side note , but in the same area ... does anyone know where to get those tiny little upholstery clips that hold the fuel tap ring cover on to the seat ..?
they are tiny round buggers ...
I took my seat off a few days ago and 2 of the 4 shot off and went on an extended holiday into the garden bed next to where I was working on her ...[:-]
They are lost in the abyss now

I have the anodised ones off ebay (I got black) I am very happy with them and will be ordering a set of red as well just for the hell of it.
One thing though(As shadow will no doubt point out lol) they are threaded all the way to the head so if you are not careful (as in VERY) you can over tighten them and crack your fairing - not been a prob for me (yet) the orignals hav an unthreaded area that is space to the correct gap required so you cant overtighten

RE: Fairing fasteners
an easy way to fix a standard fastener so you dont over tighten it is to go to your local hardware store and get yourself a brass tube that just fits over the threaded area of the bolt and cut lenghts off that match up to the length of the unthreaded area(shoulder) of the stock fasteners and simply slide them over. you can use any hard tubing to do this as long as it fits over the bolt and in the plastic
