I was on FB for a while. Almost never checked it, so I was always way too late/rude in responding, but always barraged with "friend" requests and tons of useless interruptions that can't really be called "info" i.e. "just sitting at my desk" or "Going to walk the dog" ...... Made the mistake of becoming "friends" with people I really didn't want to share info with.

I saw today that it now has over 500 Million members. Sheesh.

I cancelled.

I cancelled.
I'm getting close.
It's cool to see what my sisters and a few other friends are up to, but like you said.... just too many peeps I don't give a chit about that I only accepted to be polite.
And gawd I hate those "I went to wal-mart" status updates.
Buncha dimwits.
And what's even worse is when people post "OMG my life sucks" or "Had the worst day ever" and that's it!! Like they're waiting for someone say "Oh my!! What's wrong with you today you big ****in' baby!?? Was someone not nice to you today?? Did the woman at the McDonald's drive thru short change you on your chicken nuggets? What a catastrophe!!"

Sorry for the rant, but it pizzes me off. LOL..
I mean it's a really cool philosophy, but like most cool things..... humans screw it up.

Should be one called 'off your face book'...or maybe one called 'twatter'?? I'd never bother to look at it 'cos I'm a bit antisocial these days. Each to their own I s'pose.

Blaziken. Sounds like you've got it sussed though with the private thing. That'd cut all the meaningless crap out...not that we don't do a bit of that here eh boys??

That is exactly the problem. Can't be rude, so just had to shut it down entirely. My wife is on, and her crowd is a lot cooler and funnier (just family and friends). Mine got too professional, and that ended up being a bunch of stiffs trying not to offend anyone and make everyone their buddy, advertising for business I presume. I guess I could try it again under a different identity and not make the same mistake so I could get in my wife's group.

I hear ya, House...
I think I'm gonna go through mine this afternoon and start tossing people I don't really like.. lol..
My dad did that the other week, and he said it's fun.
He also asked "Do they know when you break a friendship with them? Because I want them to know. I want to give them a reason, too. Can I do that?" LOL...
A lot of it is dumb distant relatives or people I knew a long time ago who either haven't grown up or I never really liked them to begin with.
I can't even think of anyone on here that could be worse than some of these people.

That actually might be rather satisfying. Now, if I only had the guts.

And ya, we have a pretty good group around here: [IMG][/IMG]
