Why would you want to make a long bike even longer. They are hard enough to turn as it is.

one thing i was thinking of trying was using a Blackbird swingarm on my 88, i never got the chance to measure the width of the XX swingarm at the pivot bolt to see how it compared to the hurricanes, but one difference that i know of is the XX uses a larger diameter pivot bolt than our 1000's ... now i thought of 2 ways to accomplish using this swingarm, and ultimately being able to use the swingarm extenders that are available for the XX ...

the XX bolt i think is 4mm larger than the hurricanes i believe the XX=18mm, and the Hurricanes=14mm...

for arguments sake lets assume my pivot bolt measurements are correct and the swingarms are the same distance at the pivot bolt mount. before you try something like this, please go and measure the stock parts because the XX bolt may be the same idameter, which would make this an easier swap...

1. order from McMaster-Carr a seamless Stainless Steel tube with an external dia of 19mm and an internal dia of 17mm (they have these) cut it at the width of the XX pivot bolt mount to make a sleeve, and then install the swingarm using the cbr1000's pivot bolt...

2. you can drill out the pivot mounts on your frame, and tap the threaded side to mount it like it does on the XX. but that way sounds incredibly difficult with a high probability for failure...

another reason to choose the XX would be because the shock is mounted in the center of the bike, not offset like the 900RR or VFR's
