you've had some pretty good answers here. All correct IMO.
Shoot the head back to whence it came. If it's not complete it's worthless.

You mention dropping the sump to do chains. What?
The only thing you can do to chains by dropping the sump is look at them.
Oil and alternator chain swaps involve splitting the crank case. Likewise the alternator chain tensioner.
Sorry to burst your bubble man but I thought you should know the truth before getting your hopes up.

I just put the head back on mine today and its a nerve racking enough business even though you know you've got the right part. Attempting to modify in incompatible head would be madness and probably a complete waste of time.

Thanks for info good learning curve for me when I do drop engine out I will decide what to do so more info I have the better.
