Drive chain
Could anyone tell me the correct tension for the drive chain on my CBR1000F 1989. I am waiting to find a manual but I need to know the tension now. Alternatively, does anyone know where I can download a free version of the manual.
Nice site by the way.

Better late than never, Bill (it's a time zone thing)
Remember to rotate the wheel to check for tight spots.
I generally run 15mm play in the chain, and here's your manual - enjoy !

Just one other thing
Make sure you set that tension while the weight of the bike is on the rear wheel ...
I see guys adjust there chains while their bikes are on the center stands (if you have one) and then drop them down , only to find out that the chain is now too tight ..!!!
You can check for tight spots by putting her on the center stand after you set it while down ..
BTW- mobile rear wheel stands are fine because the weight is still on the wheel :-)

My little added advice is from personal experience only

Worn chains are very easy to tighten too much and destroy them and the worn sprockets faster..
Try it one day ...tighten your chain to the min 15mm on the stand , then drop her ...see if the chain gets real tight at any point while down then.
it happens with older chains mate
