Default Drilling stock mufflers

Look around long enough on a motorcycle forum and someone will mention drilling a stock muffler in order to get a exhaust note that is more pleasing to the ear. Is this something that can cause harm over the long haul.

Apart from there being holes in your muffler, I can't see it would have much of an effect on anything else.

A couple of the guys have drilled their exhausts, do a search and you should find something.

Po Boy move before you actually ditch the oem exhaust for something 75% lighter
with better looks and more tone, which of course Indy ^ did not long after he drilled
the above. Indy put a V&H single on his last time I saw it down in Tennessee

Eventually went with Brit ViperRaceCans myself with baffle inserts for mandatory
annual inspection stickers

That's why Sprock uses the viper cans with the baffles removed. Hoodie over his helmet, dark tinted visor and big bag of M&Ms on the pillion seat... he's no fool!

What size holes did you end up with Robbie, for the record?

Henry, I'll measure them and get back to you. I have a 1987 and only drilled the top half with three holes not like Indiana's with four because I didn't want water getting in the lower part. if that makes sense. I'll take a photo as well.
Cheers, Robbie
