Smile Diesel Oil

So finally got around to doing my oil change today.

After a lot of dithering I went with diesel oil!!!

Not the first on here to go with diesel oil , so it isn't exactly brave of me , Shadow's experience was very reassuring.

Anyway ran her for a while to get the oil nice and warm and had the usual chain chatter . After the oil change , I can't hear it anymore used 15w 40 and she runs like a dream

Will keep you guys updated , especially if she seizes up

oh so you are using Rotella now eh? :lol: Its great stuff esp price wise compared to the others.

I run Rotella in the thumper. You can get it for just under $10 per gallon, and a lot of people swear by it.

I haven't run it in my CBR, though, but now that I buy it by the case... I think I'm gonna start running it in her, too. Can't see why not.

I've been running amsoil in the old girl for a while now, but my cheap amsoil source dried up...so... I think it's gonna be Rotella T for me..

Just keep an eye on the clutch for slipping - diesel oils contain detergents and friction modifiers.

I know a couple of guys who ran car diesel oil in the bike and had clutch slip issues.

Slight clutch slip when cold, but it did that with bloody expensive Actevo anyway.
I'm not sure about the detergents and modifiers in diesel oil. I'm told they have less than normal oils ??? Which is supposedly good for bike engines

And no Steve the stuff isn't like tar, more like colour of golden syrup, but a good bit runnier and less sugar ! Ar Ar

I run Rotella in my 93' Cane and it runs great, 43,000 miles and doesn't use a drop of oil,no slippage or problems of any kind.I done a lot of research before I started using it and I'm glad I decided to go with it.It's cheaper than the special bike oils too,plus it's readily available,Wal-mart even carries it! Don't be fooled by the "you have to use a special oil" crap. Rotella works,and works well! morayman..................

Talking Rotella and side effects.

I switched to Rotella. Now I can use my CBR to tow our 5th wheel trailer. The downside is that it (the bike) sounds like it's running a Cummins.

Thank goodnes I didn't use the wife's sewing machine oil.
