Default Daft question - bar end weights compatability?

Hi guys - forgive the probably stupid question, but are the bar end weights fairly universal across the range?

My '87 FH lost its bar ends before I bought her and there's a pair of '91 bar end weights on Ebay at the moment - will these bolt straight on?

Cheers,
Dave.

They will - I just took inner bar weights from a 1990 and put them in an 87
handlebars and the external bar end weights fit perfect

There was little or no difference between the oem inner bar weight from the 87
and the one from the 1990 - the 90 was a 1.5cm's longer but still worked

So yeah 91 bar ends will work with 87 inner bar weights you may need the
91 bar end weight screws tho for length

Thanks Sprock!

I suspected as much, but thought I'd better check with the experts!!!

It looks like the bar end weights come with the screws, looking at the picture, so I'm good to go (if I win the auction!)

Thanks again fella! You're a star...

Dave.

My 1989 f-j was missing her bar end weights when I bought her recently, just got a set of these off ebay and they fitted perfectly, BAREND WEIGHTS had an issue with one of the internal weights sticking out too far, wouldn't go back in no matter what I did, so I removed it with some persistance, brute force and ignorance, washed it in light soapy water and then tapped it back in with a rubber mallet to the correct distance before the rubbers dried, then fitted these cheapo weights. They weigh in at 75gms each, don't know what the standard ones weigh.

Hope this helps.

Cheers, Steve

Nice one Steve!

Just ordered a pair of these for myself. The original second hand ones on Ebay would have been 50p cheaper, but these are obviously brand new, which can't be bad!

Now I've just gotta wait for them to ship from Taiwan! ZZZZZZzzzzzzz.....

Yeah I went with a set of chrome ones from Ebay specific for honda bars too.

I can relate to Steves inner bar weight deal - I had one that had the outer neck
snapped off - was a real pain getting it out and like I said the inner from a 1990
worked just fine with some wd40 and a few belts of the persuader too

I think mine took about 10 days, not too bad really, what made me laugh was a flyer in with the weights, "these are made in Taiwan NOT China", just made me chuckle lol!!

Cheers, Steve
