I'm going to chuck a new clutch at the CBR. I know It's supposed to be soaked in oil for a while prior to installation. Should I soak it in the synthetic (Shell Rotella T) that I run in the bike and use that during the bedding process, or should it be dino oil and run dino oil in the bike until the clutch has had a chance to bed in a bit?

 

I soaked my clutch in the oil I eventually used when I did an oil changed (in my case, dino oil)

 

I'm wondering if the syn might not be a good choice to bed the plates in with. Maybe a little too slippery?

 

Syn oil for motorcycles will be fine for the clutch.

 

I agree, syn is good enough if that is what you are using.

 

Did your clutch kit have one different plate the one that goes in first.

 

I used syn to soke my plates and now i can wip it up in 3rd at around 80ks

 

Though I haven't done the clutch yet, there is one plate that is differentand the anti-chatter plate that goes in first.

 

Soaked mine in same oil that I use in the bike.

Didn't bother to soad mine, no problems. The plates will get plenty of oil once installed. Never done it on dirtbikes either....
