Charging help
Hi all,
I've had what I think are charging problems too on my 1000f, it started fine rode about 3 miles (with lights on) got to place I was going, came out within 5 mins, and it weakly turned over a few times and died, bump started it rode home 3 miles (with no lights on) restarted it fine so ran it for 10 mins. stopped and restarted, fine. tried to use it next day and although it turned over, it soon started to get weak it wouldn't fire up. It has a new battery so got to be charging right?

First, this is the F2 section, you might have better luck posting in the 1000f section of the forum.
Charging problems can sometime be unique to a specific model.
I'm not sure how 'new' new is, but I'm seen new batteries just die for no reason. So don't assume it's not the battery.
Take it out of the bike, fully charge it, wait 30 min, then load test it. That's the only way to know it's good.
Or swap it with a brand new out of the box one.
Second, it could be the reg/rec going back. F2/F3 are very problematic in this area.
Maybe the 1000f is too. I'm not sure. That is a question for other 1000f owners.
You can check the reg/rec with a multimeter and a manual.
As a quick test, you should be seeing 14.6 across the battery just above idle (assuming the battery is good).
If you only see battery voltage, then it's not charging.
Lastly, it could be the stator has gone bad. This is the least likely but it does happen on occasion.
There are also procedures in the manual to test this with a multimeter.
