I just installed an EK 530 SRX and sprockets on my baby. Purchased from the dealer. It is an O ring chain. I thought about the gold chain and wanted a different sprocket, but money was tight. The boutique stuff has to wait. No intent to scrimp, just wanted the right stuff. Any opinions on this brand ? Another thought, I looked at a couple of bikes with the gold chains and respecting the advertisement of slowing down rust and corrosion, they still looked black from the lube on them.At that point it was easier not to go the extra expense. Baby needs shoes
By mistake I posted a question on the master link in the how to section, should have gone here (?) Clip on the master link or stamped rivet? I have both, used the clip.

Grendl, the rivet master links are generally preferred because they're less prone to coming off. Clips can work, and some people use them.... but I can't recommend them.
If I used one, I'd make sure it was installed correctly (closed end in the direction of chain travel) and also siliconed and/or safety wired.
Nothing wrong with EK chains, tho. I prefer the rk gold because they do seem to resist corrosion better and are only like $10 more.

Kilgoretrout, that seals it. Sprock gave me the same answer in my misplaced post in "how to". Was trying to get a consensus from our forum here. I called around to different dealers and shops here and they all said ,"no problem" with the clip. I have the rivet type and will probably let someone do it -cheaper than buying the tool. I can see how mechanically it works and should be reliable, but this is NOT the place I want to take chances.Actually there is no place on my bike I want to take chances ! Oh ... I did put it on correctly. Closed end in direction of travel.Made triple sure it was in the groove on both ends.Thanx Guys !

A good thing to take advice from two Wise Guys ...... sometimes

I just received a new RK 530 XSO today for 64 bucks from Ebay which
came with the rivet master included, so my 93 now will be getting a
new set of sprockets 17/42 and this nice new chain, all in came to
94 bucks for everything ...... ya gotta love Ebay and the "make an offer"
routine.

But hey grendl ......... rivets the way to go man .....take no chances with
chains and tires ! you life depends on it.
