Default Center Stand Question

Hey all,
Is it just my bike or is almost impossible to put the bike on its center stand without having to get a hernia or scrape whatever surface your bike is on in order to get it up. I mean the bike is heavy, but on mine you really need two people to get it on the stand.
I would like to get it up on the stand to do some carb work on her, but everytime I try, it just skids to the back, and i feel like I will tip the bike if i try getting it on the stand by doing it from the side?
What am I missing?? Any tips on an easy way?

Thanks!

This is Soooooo my problem too! I talked to some Gold Wingers - they gave me THE best tip. They said change the geometry - get a 3/4" piece of wood, drive the bike over it so that the back wheel rests of the wood (hence raising the back end up), and then give try getting her up on the center stand. Makes perfect sense! Hope this helps!

It's a bitch, no doubt. Use your legs as much as you can, not so much your arms or back - I can do it pretty smoothly with one heave-ho, but I always gasp.

The key is to press the pedal on the center stand hard and not so much lifting.

Yeah, press down hard on the pedal on the centre stand, that's the secret. However, once it's up on the centre stand, mine comes off it real easy - it's less secure than any other bike I've had.

This is one occassion when it helps to weight 260lbs.
I doubt I could get her on the centre stand otherwise.

Yes, pulling up as you force the centerstand down is the key.
However this is by far the hardess bike I have ever put up on the centerstand.
My right arm is longer than my left now.LOL
It does help me when I get a slow dackward movment and quickly bring it up.

Once I learned how one is supposed to do it, I never had any problems with this or my previous bike:
put left hand on left handle bar and have full steering to the left, right foot on "pedal" on the center stand and, this is the secret, put right hand on passengers foot rest, as far in as you can. Then press your right foot down at the same time that you pull upwards/backwards on the foot rest. Make sure that you make ground contact with both "feet" on the center stand and get a little side support that way before you lift. Have someone help you support the bike the first couple of times ´til you get the hang of it.
When I did this the first time on the CBR I was actually in the sellers garage looking at it for the first time. He dropped his jaw all the way to the knees, and said: -"Oh, you knew how to do that... My wife and I have been pulling like crazy to get it on the center stand..."
