Well pmcg! Thank u! But I wouldn't take another mans tools. Those are like.children, I have to get my own. And I am pretty sure I have a place to buy some. And as for the system. I have checked the lines, tank and a new filter. All good there. And like I.said.before, when I spray carb cleaner on the 4th air pod. The bike runs great. But I do need to find a way to fix the stater clutch.

Starter clutch or alternator damper?

If the symptoms are pressing the button and the starter motor turning but not firing the motor, it's most likely the damper.

It is possible with the engine in the bike - I did it a couple of months ago - and if it is the starter clutch, it's essentially the same procedure.

I just bought a Carbtune pro about a month ago and its an excellent piece of kit and considering that a stealer will charge you what it costs to initially buy it, it pays for itself after the first sync imho. I'd recommend you get one mate.

any good places in the states to get one? i would like to avoid the S&H charges as much as possible. and as for the starter clutch, i notices that the rattle goes away when the bike is leaned to the right i believe, or left, one of them, but either way, would that be the stater clutch? the starter? the something? i cant sell her for less then what i put into it and the ime to sell isnt now at the end of the season!! im still posting her online but i am going to work on her as i look for a buyer. and also look to by a newer cbr. but what is better fuel injected or carbed????

Injected is better as long as the fuel is clean.

I use a Motion-Pro Sync Pro, which is very similar to the carbtune pro. About $80 US - but like everyone else has said, use it once and it pays for itself. If you're going to stick with a carbureted bike it's a no-brainer. Easy to use. You'll kick yourself for ever paying anyone else to do it for you!

cheers

I suppose they would be sold in the USA mate. They are sold here to but they wanted an extra 80 dollars here and they wouldn't include the pouch for it. It was $100 AUD landed to my door direct from Carbtune in the UK with the pouch. I don't think it will be any cheaper anywhere else. I looked at the Motion Pro one but it still uses liquid and it has to be calibrated where the carbtune uses rods and doesn't need calibration. I just like to hook things up, use them and that's it where I can. The less set up of a tool the better.

Calibrating the motion pro takes all of 30 seconds.. maybe 60 tops. You have to hook the tee/vacuum lines up to the carbs anyway to use it, just like any of them, and that's when you calibrate it. What i'm saying is it's really easy to use, but any of them will be and you'll be happy you have one.

If you sell the 1000F and have a choice of newer bikes then yes, FI is definitely better.

Hey I have a set of 88 carbs and an 88 engine they are genuine cause I took them out of my 88 cbr1kf myself if you need those pm me. As far as the fuel injection goes you can fuel inject anything with Megasquirt and lots of fellas have. Just google it. But, you really don't need the FI if you get the carbs clean. Most of the time I find it's just a matter of deciding you are just going to have to do it. With the guys on hear as moral support and technical advisers you can get it done I am sure.
