What about the power difference
The Blackbird has noticably more power. That and the lighter weight make it necessary to lean forward when giving it full throttle (at least in 1st gear), otherwise the front end will come up in a hurry.

I agree with Mitch on the confort factor. The 1000F is the more comfortable of the two, in my opinion. Even with the heli-bars on my Blackbird, I noticed that my upper back and wrists get fatigued on relatively short rides. Though, I just started riding for the season and expect the fatigue to be less noticable after my muscles get re-acclimated to riding again.

Is the '98 carbed or fuel injected?
I think '99 was the first year for the Injected XX.

Wait a second. How does raddragn get a 1000F and an XX?
Got the 1000F in '93 - then got the XX in '01. Love the 1000F and couldn't bear to part with it so kept both. The 1000F is a bit cushier - both my bikes are stock. Both have been used for cross country trips with long days in the saddle - 600 to 900+ day rides. Both are quite stable in wind also.
I love the XX - it is my dream bike - mine is the fuel injected model. Love fuel injection!

Hello. I have both bikes a 93 1000F and a 2003 blackbird. The 93 is actually more comfortable ergonomically speaking. Bars are higher, suspention and seat softer. It is also considerably wider in the front of the seat than the bird. Its about 50 lbs heavier than the bird. The bird is notably easier to menuver out of the garage, The seat being narrow at the front puts more of your foot on the ground and makes pushing it out while on the bike easier. The bird feels lighter to ride and quicker to lean and turn. Oh and then you have that glorious motor!!!! Hope this helps.

Yes it re-assures me that I have made the right decision, not only is the bird easier to handle, like you say the motor is an added bonus, the power delivery reminds me of my old VF1000F.........and then some!

Cheers,

Mitch.
