Carb Tune in or around MD
I was just wondering if anyone in or around MD that has a carb tune I could borrow(Beer would be included). I live in Columbia, MD, and could travel a lil bit if need be. This way I dont need to shell out like another 100.00 PM me if you are able to help me out.

You can easily build one using some parts from the pets store and a gauge from Harbor Freight. $20.

Hey man, I am in Silver Spring. Unfortunately, I don't have a manometer myself. I do have two vacuum gauges. I was actually thinking in trying with those two only, although it might be a pain... if can get your hands in any other two gauges it would be perfect.

I will have to do some research on using vacuum gauges, since I have only seen the fluid style. Thanks imo000
Jajgarcia, I don't think it could be done with two since all 4 need to be viewed, since when u adjust 1 the others change. I will do some research online today or tomorrow. And if I get a set up, then u could swing by or vice versa. Thanks again |
What you want is to measure the vacuum pressure in all the carbs and make it even. So a vacuum gauge will work just fine. But yes, I am not sure if with only two it can be done. I though that you could leave one gauge at #2, and sync with the other with #1. Then try to sync #2 and #3, and go back to measure #1 and see if it changes, go forward again... etc. It could be a pain in the neck and yet not really work.
We should get together for a ride one day, nevertheless. Javier. |

Two? I did it with only 1 gauge. What you need is a fish tank air pump maniflod that has 4 seperate valves. Then a metre or so of tubing and a cheap gauge. You can only open the blue valve in the pic a little or else the the needle will bounce too much. #2 carb is not adjustable so you need to use that as a baseline and adjust all the other ones to the same level. Here are a couple of pics of the contraption I built back in '09. I've syched two 1000Fs with it since.

After searching and searching, I think I am gonna build a manometer, a fluid style one, I will probably build it this weekend or next. I will post pics or a vid if I can.
Javier, yea when I get her on the road I will hit ya up. Mike |
Hye Mike, please keep me posted on how it goes, and let me know if you need any help. I am also working to get my cbr road ready. Today I am putting new tires, which I think is the last thing I need to take it to inspection, and then do registration and all that.
Good luck wit the manometer. |
I can feel a 'How Too' coming on :D

man-o-meter, couldn't they have called it something different? When I here man-o-meter I think of something else.
