Default can glass in mirror be replaced?

Hey guys,

I have a '93 CBR1000f that needs a replacement mirror for the right side. I was curious if it is possible to just replace the glass or if the engine assembly needs to be replaced? I saw on Ron Ayers that the replacement assembly runs $120 and I didn't know if there was a way around it? Thanks.

I've never done it but I would assume that you can. After all car mirrors are able to have the glass replaced. Take it to your local glazier & let him have a look. Last time I enquired which was about two years ago the cost was about $40 Australian.

Sure you can ! There's a guy on e-Bay UK called Patrick Allen Motorcycles that sells replacement glass - you can even have tinted ones.
There is a tatty complete mirror on e-Bay.UK for 99c too, or you can buy a pair from Napalm's mate (hi Mathis) for $30. See his post above.

You can get it replaced but it the US you cannot use regular mirror glass because of some stupid DOT regulation. The last time I had to replace a mirror I wound up buying well used one off bebay and swapping the glass.

It's only illegal if you get caught.

I have a couple of mirrors I dont want, the bracket hinge things are brocken, but the freight to you may kill the idea.

Also Service Hondaaround $75 (not incl. shipping)

Service Honda and David Silver Spares tend to be two of the best options for OEM Honda Parts. DSS also gets some unique things in from time to time.

Just trace one on a sheet of paper and take it to your local glassworks !
