Default cam and valves

My bike is a 87 1000f.My cams and valve stems are at there service limits. How long can I get out of them as is? What are my options, if any? I love the ride but a new set of cams and valves are probley more then the bike is worth. I can do the work myself but parts alone will run me around 800 bucks. Any info is good info. Thanks

might be worth your while to scout around for a motor with lower miles

What mileage does your bike have - the mark 1 bikes have been known to do 200000 K's before any rebuild.
Just ride the thing
Pick up an engine and use the spares if you are really concerned.

What do you mean when you say that they are at their service limit? I don't understand the statement.

The bike has 26000 miles. The manual gives you the lobe size. Within a certin range. Then it gives you the least amount acceptable.Thats what there calling the service limit. I was woundering if valve shims are possible.

Completely agree unless you are really running the crap out of her

If it makes you feel at ease I'm over 92,000 and mine are moving along just fine and they have never been replaced. We just did the CCT and Cam Chain and mine looked just fine. I'm pretty easy on her, but the previous owner was a jack *** and rode her hard. Again 92K plus and mine are just fine...
