Default Cam chain

Hello,
my bike has 49.000 miles on it and the camchain is noisy. Should i replace only the tensioner or both tensioner and chain? changing both proves a litle expensive (aprox 1000 euro - at a bikeshop) while changing only the tensioner is aprox 300 euros.

I don't want to say yes and I don't want to say no.

I haven't heard of a chain going bad from normal use. Its bathed in oil when the engine is running and there is not a lot of tension on it. On the other hand, if your in there, why not.

I replaced the CCT at 25K mi and the bike now has 55K on it. The next replacement I'll do both.

I would do both - if you fit a DID chain (which has a masterlink and means you don't have to remove the engine )you can do the complete job for FAR less than 300 Euros for both. Look in the "how to" section and you will find a complete step by step procedure for doing it yourself - if I can do it, you can too.

Funny stuff right there. When I did mine I dropped a nut and pulled 1/2 the engine apart. Put my glasses on and the nut was sitting up top in plain view.

Easy job.....if you can see.

Nice bike Vlad and welcome to the forum. Don't trade her for anything

To anyone who helps you. You owe a bottle of tzuica

Just joking, and again. Welcome

She doesn't have to be a looker, just make her safe and you'll be ok
