When using the front brake,I can hear the brakes when riding!!!
They are not squealling or grinding,they 'buzz'.
The pads are low but not down to the metal,they dont judder but they are not great at stopping me either.
This is my first cane so dont know if the brakes are that good to start with, the last owner has fitted braided lines and the discs look OK.
Any ideas?

Ok, I was thinking about posting on this subject because mine did the same kind of noise today. it was at slow speed under light braking. sounded like the rear brake. i've only had the bike for a week and this is the first time i've heard the noise. i checked the brakes when i got home and everything looked ok, pads have plenty left nothing seemed loose...is this a normal sound?

 

Mine only does it when brakes are applied- the pads make a hissing sound,
I suspect all of you have binding brake pistons.....!

 

If its a binding brake piston do I need to get a caliper 'service kit' or something like it?

 

A service kit wouldn't be a bad idea, but I'd try moving the pistons in and out in situ (much easier) and seeing if this helps before stripping them, which is a messy and time-consuming affair, generally accompanied by much swearing !

 

Here we go again...mine go Sssssss when lightly applied. I can't hear them under heavier breaking. They will make some sound when applied but should be quiet when there is no pressure from the leaver or pedel. In a car they make sounds that you can't hear from inside the vehcial.

 

The Cbr1000f has always been known to make brake sounds ,hissing and squealing , they mentionned in the road test published when the bike came out in 1987-1988I don't know if this has been rectified with later generation, at slow speedI can hear mine a bit, but at high speed my supertrappslipons cover a lot of low pitch sound, even the wife when she saysI am riding to fast OOOps!

 

Mine only started making the noise whenthe padswere low & after a somewhat spirited ride through the hills one day. I assumed I had cooked the brakes& glazed the pads. Disc's went slightly blue too.I decided to remove the pads & clean them on some concrete which worked great but unfortunately was short lived. Ithen replaced the pads & to my horror the noise was worse. It's now taken a number of weeks to bed everything in & free it all up & now all is silent again. Just come back from another shorthills ride & the brakes are better than ever.
Remedy??? Replace the pads (not expensive) & follow Shadow's ideas at the same time.

 

Just remember when you buy new pads you also have to remove all the crap that is built up on your rotor as well.
