Default brakes are so touchy

Well I had my buddy who is a certified Honda mechanic take a look at my bike over the weekend and he told me my rear brakes are super sensitive like it is no brake or brake hard. He was not sure what was causing it because we bled the brakes and cleaned all the trash out of them. Anyways just thought I would pick some brains here and see what you all thought it might be. It is just the rear brake pedal that it does it. When you push the pedal the brakes grab hard and it makes for a real jerky stop.

Is it the stock line? I have read a few reviews on the aftermarket braided lines being to touchy for the rear.

Rear brakes on these bikes are inclined to lock up if you push a little too hard, and as pmcg says a braided rear line will make it worse..........

+1 ........... don't take much to lock it up especially when hard braking with both front
and rear

it is a stick line and what i mean by touch is you press the brake pedal softly and the bike just wants to lock up. Front brake is ok to a point but it is all completely stock.maybe what i will do is when i head over to his shop today i will have him explain how it felt. But it is like there is no brake when your saoft on the pedal then all of a sudden brake

Sounds like a problem with the brake cylinders - perhaps sticking, perhaps old brake fluid.
Hard to tell from here, but that's where I'd start.
Maybe they are binding a bit to start with...........and when you touch the pedal, they bite.....

it has new new brake fluid. I will take the calipers off this weekend and pull them apart and clean them and see if that helps. My buddy said it could be a warped rotor but if it was warped i would be getting alot of vibrations. Anyways thanks for the tips so far.

It might help to put it on the center stand and roll the wheel by hand and test it that way. You can check the linked brakes that way too. Sounds like a caliper problem to me.

It could be that the orifice bolt is not tight. That would be the hex head bolt on the secondary master cylinder. Try to snug it being careful not to over tighten it. That could cause very crappy breaking if loose. You need to loosen it for bleeding and it may have gotten over looked. Hopefully that's the problem.

I would suspect the proportional valve. If it's not the orifice bolt.

Edit: I have edited my edits of edits and nothing is the same now.
