brake caliper question
Hi all
My mk1 87 front brakes are feeling a bit wooden so before i spend my coin overhauling my stock front calipers are there any other calipers that fit right on and offer a improvement ??
thanks all
ps anyone know where to buy caliper rebuild kits for the mk1 in uk?
Rob

87-88 MK1 CBR1KF Brakes
Hey:
A few Hondas of the same era interchange like the Gold caliper VFRs but have the same feel as working CBR1KFs. IMHO the best option for better feel on a MK1 is 89 and up Rotors as they are 1+ mill thicker and dont bend/distort as easy as the 87-88 rotors. It is a direct swap with maybe some clearencing on the caliper hangers to get it all centered. I did not have to do anything on my bike but a few on here have mentioned they had too. A caliper rebuild kit should be fairly easy to find on ebay UK or North America. Good luck.

As above.
For parts I use these guys as they're just down the road from me, very helpful.

You'll need to change the model year on the link though.

+1^, I agree with Bordo, Stainless lines are a major improvement mod for feel and performance all the way around. No downside really.

There's a few of us down here Rob. Bug Killer is near Chichester and HenryM is in Kent. We'll have to have a local meet-up

^ That's a good way to go Hawk. If one bike has SS lines and you trust your fellow countrymen to ride your bike, they get a free chance to try a break mod.
I forgot to let cb2cbr and Sprock try my de-linked bike on our ride. Since then cb2cbr has de-linked but found the rear pedal somewhat harsh. Takes some time to get use to. I plan on getting to to Sprock's place soon and helping him de-link the '93 but want him to ride my de-linked '94 first.
