Bike Stands
Just finished my minor service and included a good clean of my chain, but what a hassle.
My original centre stand was taken off when I fitted my after market exhaust and since then, been wishing for it back...soooooo, I went to the bike shop to buy a rear stand (external one that sits under the arms) and was shocked at the price tag - $160!!!
I looked at the ben d bit of pip - aka "stand" and figure - can't be hard making it?
Anyone had any succes manufacturing their own stand - any pitfalls that I may have missed?

RE: Bike Stands
Length of pipe is 53.5 cm
Height of l shaped swivelling support for swingarm from ground 31.5cm
Basic but effective. Hope it helps - if you need more details, let me know.

RE: Bike Stands
No problem - If you need more measurements for my "shopping trolley" - Hi Gill.[:@]..let me know.
I am able to sit on the bike on the stand, so taking the bike's weight is no problem. Place it directly under the rear shaft and should be fine.Wrap the ends of the L shaped brackets in tape to prevent scratching your swingarm. Post pics when you're done, please.

RE: Bike Stands
here's my Shadow inspired bike stand for my Cane.
I was a bit nervous bit thanks Shadow - lifts the can easy as. 20mmx20mm rhs steel, welded with the mig. Whole project cost including wheels $20 Australian, took a little over 2 hours to complete - yes and painted silver.....
