Hardcorp once ran 15/46 - !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Probably top end about 180, but boy did it get there in a hurry !
15/42= wheely machine (mine) hoooooooooo kept changing gear.......................

Pete if a 17 / 42 tops at 150's then a smaller front and higher rear would
in my opinion would run a lesser top end but would as you correctly
say accelerate faster alright.

so i have a question, what would be the proper sprocket size for higher speeds at lower RPM's... I like to cruise with my rpms around 5k-6k, but thats always around 55mph... and 75mph is like 7k rpms... how can i get 6th gear 75mph at 5-6k??

Not knowing what you ride ...........generic answer

highest that will fit on your front
lowest that you want to put on your rear wheel
and be prepared to shorten the chain

We work in K PH Sprocket - maybe 115 M PH

Sprock, get your chit together on the KPH.

NYKnick, you may want to check in the F3 section and ask what kind of rpms they are getting with different gearing.
Otherwise, the general rule (like sprock said) is larger sprocket in the rear OR smaller in the front produces higher RPMs at lower speed, while smaller in the rear and larger in the front produces lower RPMs at higher speeds.
