DOT anything eh ?? lol
Yep yep... that's what I meant.

And BV is real mild.. but pretty oaky. Oaky dokey? lol... Is 'oaky' a word?
Well, I used it so it must be.

And yes.... the ATE looks good. I may have to get some of that myself. Not many places around here even sell any 4 unless it's crazy expensive or in tiny bottles.

From what I have read, Dot3 or 4 should work. Dot4 is better with some additives. Dot 5 should not be mixed with 3 or 4 or it will eat seals. Dot3, 4 & 5.1 are Polyethylene glycol based and Dot5 is silicone based. ATE Super Blue is Dot4 and can be mixed with 3,4 or 5.1 but not Dot5.

Dot 5, silicone, SHOULD NOT BE USED it attracts oxygen, as the others attract moisture, the oxygen CAN NOT be bleed out and will result in a mushy feel, in brakes it can kill you. I have been there, trust me.

I think we had a brake fluid discussion before when I de-linked. I believe someone said Dot5 withstood higher temps so I may have mistakenly went with it at that time. Now I have bleed my breaks a few times and I still have to pump them before I ride. It seams that the O2 separates and then goes back after a few pumps. It still feels mushy and I will replace it in the spring now that I have learned more about fluids in recent years. With what I know now, I agree, STAY CLEAR OF DOT-5.

Also until u change it, be very careful. As I am sure u are aware the issue of moisture in the fluid causes brake fade when it gets hot (turns moisture into steam and brakes go away), well the o2 in the dot 5, is MUCH WORSE! We discovered this while racing a sports care at Sebring FL, after first two turns NO brakes, took a while to clean the drivers seat out, lol.
Not a know-it-all, just trying to help a fellow rider stay safe.

Sorry for posting so late on this one. Yeah I have heard the problems with the DOT 5. I have the 5.1 in my brakes and clutch. I had the 5.1 in the bike when I was in Tenn. so you know my brakes worked. Also remember Dylan telling me, you could not blend DOT 5 or DOT 5.1, not even a drop with and other brake fluid. Or was that a Dot matrix either way I made sure it was all cleaned out before I refilled.

Don't know how true this is, I remember someone saying that the DOT 5.1 would not boil. Don't know how true that is.

As I understand it, it is not strictly speaking the brake fluid that boils. It is the moisture/water that is absorbed into the brake fluid that boils, creating a gas which is compressible, causing the brakes to fade.

Weather this happens with 5.1, I don't know
