RE: Avon Azaro 46 ST tire
one of my friend shad a hurricane and had an Avon tire on it.. positively HATED it, said it was dangerous as hell.. that's what I heard though.. I put a bridgestone Battleaxe on the rear to match the front, apparently stickier than the Metzler 550 that was on the rear before... I'm liking it so far, it's only been on it a week, but I had high speed cornering instability before, which is gone now.. it felt like the rear end of the bike was weaving underneath you as you took a long banked corner above 120 kph, now 130 and it still feels pretty comfortable

RX7, bet your friend didn't have azaros... mine really are work'n out well. they have been known to stabilize, a twitchy bike(tire comparisons) I'll bet the idea of running 42lbs in the rear freaked him out and he ran low preasures... the avon tech people (3 of'm) said azaros act like "flat" squirly, when under inflated. I run 36/ 42lbs and they stick good, w/o spin'n up easely, seam to stick well in the wet also. the new tire multiple compounds, materials (silica ect.) are really better than the stuff a person just wore out. Talk to the comp. techs, they are happy to explain, how and why. Clean and free, Ripp'n

Rx7, Ya, I keep think'n about powers ! I saw a vid of a guy running powers on a srad gixxer, in the rain... 35 mph mt. roads, 85 to 135mph, all double yellows and rain !!!!!! He said short of race rubber, the absolute stickyest tire he's ever used, period. Watching the vid, made me sick to my stomach!!!!!!
I've heard the azaros are lo tech compared to the new avon vipers, I remember not to long ago, avons were all low tech tires... I'm sure glad the tire companys are getting better... now if tires wern't so dang exspensive... "this month only... any tire...48.00$ !!!!! Group buy, 36$ !!!! ".... clean and free, Ripp'n

Hey wait a minute Rippn, are you talking about US Dollar there when you write 48 dollars? And you think that´s expensive? I paid, roughly considering actual exchange value, 220 USD (1650 SEK) for the Avon Azaro ready on rim!
By the way, I took a ride yesterday night on the new tire, felt very well actually, however I have to admit that the front tire might need to be replaced too for that perfect feeling, but it´s not in any way dangerous as it is now!

MK, No, No, I was wish'n... any tire... was only 48$ us.!!!!!!!!!!! I feel for you man, I paid 225$ us (frnt and rear, total), deliverd to my door and 22$ each, to mount and balence, wheels on the bike (off season price) I got them from MAW.com (motorcycle accesory warehouse) Idaho, USA.
MK, if you do get a front too... and want to speed up the frnt end turn in, (i did) get a azarro sp(sport), up there. Not a bit twitchy or tippy. I retro, since 1000f's are so stable, i would've got a sp for the rear, too.I avon gurus said... "sp frnt/ st rear, is compleatly compatible in handling". good tires/ tech support. Guys I'm riding on the Avon Azaro ST as well, switched to them this season. Prior to I've had the Metzler's, Bridgestone BT020 and I'm liking the Avon's. They initiate a turn far better than the bridgestone, granted I've only got about 1,500 miles on them but they seem to stick pretty well. I didn't like how the bridgestone front tire felt on turns and the cupping that happened with the tire. The Metzlers were to soft and only lasted around 3,500 miles before the cupping got real bad in the front and the flat spots on the rear. Bike our bike is so freaking heavy I tend to go with ST tires for longer tread life.
Also for better handeling if you have over 15k on your bike I would recommend getting your ballbearings replaced on the front, made a huge difference for me on rough roads and twisties.
